Barking Colour Cup 2010
Four stalwart members of Loughton Camera Club made the journey to Eastbury Manor in Barking, meeting place of Barking Camera Club. The event was the Barking Colour Cup, a battle between ten clubs, each entering six colour prints.
The judge for the evening was Russell Lindsay who as usual did a very competent and interesting job, occasionally interrupted by his wife Barbie adding some spice to the proceedings!
It was an edge-of-the-seat finish. By the time Russell had marked all but the four images which he had held back, any of the top three clubs might have won. However, two of the images held back were from Upminster and scored a nine and a ten, Loughton had one image held back which was marked as a ten and the top Thurrock image was marked at nine which meant that Upminster Camera Club won the cup by three points from Loughton Camera Club with 47, narrowly beating last year’s winners, Thurrock by one point.
The last decision of the judge was to select which of the two prints marked with ten should be the “best” of the evening, and Russell chose “Sea Eagle Catching a Fish”, a truly superb natural history shot. “Home in the Snow” by John Woolliams of Loughton Camera Club was also awarded ten points.
Loughton’s entry was:

Sand Yacht Race by Yvonne Jackson (7)
Impression of Autumn by Iris Newbery (7)
Someone to Watch Over You by Richard Poynter (8)
