Loughton Camera Club at Flatford Mill
Loughton Camera Club at Flatford Mill
As usual it was difficult to arrange a day
to suit more than a few members for a
summer trip but as can be seen from the
photo some of us managed to get together
on the 24 July.
Our destination was Dedham and Flatford Mill
in Constable Country. Although when we
arrived a few very black clouds gave a little
cause for concern, the day turned out warm,
dry and sunny.
Ten members met at Dedham and after a
“convivial cuppa” we took a gentle stroll
through Dedham Village and then along the
banks of the Stour to Flatford taking pictures
along the way. At Flatford we split up and
wandered around the area seeking subjects
for our cameras, and enjoying lunch. Later we joined forces again and followed a short tour led by a National Trust guide who discussed Constable’s techniques – so similar to those we recognise today when composing our own pictures.
Afternoon tea followed (see picture above taken by Elaine) before we set off in differing directions back to Dedham, our cars and home.
